Know Me, know my work:
A SHOWCASE of My projects and research
Over the past 5 years, I have worked to integrate two of my greatest passions: teaching yoga and learning through technology. As a 500-hour certified yoga instructor and a graduate of the MAET program at Michigan State University, I have learned to balance theory with practice, instruction with assessment, and knowledge with leadership to create unique learning programs and activities. To illustrate, I've put together a sample showcase of some of my most exciting and important work. Enjoy!

This is "Creativity in Teaching and Learning " marked a milestone in my quest to learn more about educational technology. Not only did we learn the principles of creativity in educational contexts, but we were required to design a website around those principles. This was also my first time to build a website so it represents an evolution in my thinking of organization and design.

The hypothesis of my paper - In the Studio: A Yoga Coach Observation & Analysis Using CBAS (Coach Behavioral Assessment System)- is that yoga instructors may also benefit from the same type of systematic observation and analysis that is common in competitive sports. My study is an observation and analysis case study using a CBAS on the in-class behaviors of a 500-hour yoga instructor. The paper contains details on the merits of a scientific approach to analyzing coaching behaviors and the methods used to apply a CBAS to yoga instruction.

Where does the instructor fit in a model of theory and practice?
I developed a concept map to conceptualize the relationships between yogic principles, scientific methods of coaching techniques and analysis, and the motivational strategies of modern competitive sports. I hope the results of my map are as surprising and illuminating for you as they were for me. |

The PETTLEP Model is a framework for helping instructors and coaches structure interventions for performance enhancement in motor skills activities. I conducted a case study on the use the PETTLEP model of imagery intervention in a yoga practice situation. The purpose of the study was to examine whether an imagery intervention based on the PETTLEP model would prove effective for yogic practice. My paper describes the methods I used to develop and implement the PETTLEP-based intervention, as well as a discussion of the results. The paper ends with a reflection on the impact of the PETTLEP model on my yoga instruction and practice.
